In Dittler’s performances the human body is in a continuous dynamic relationship with the objects. These filigree, mysterious apparatuses, made of metal, aluminum, copper, and plexiglass, seem to be waiting for something to be done with them. As if they were summoning human bodies, and even in their absence, it is always a calling beset upon them. In her objects Dittler combines constructed and organic matter, gives them names like greiflinge griplings or organ, and emphasizes the additions and incisions. Their medical-technical appearance suggests questionable attempts to seize the body and control it. At the same time, their subtle displacement and alienation make them actually become objects objecting, resistant manifestations of poetic realities.
